Timothy S. Bradley, founder of TSB Capital Advisors and principal at TSB Realty, joined the Power Panel at the opening of the 2019 InterFace Student Housing Conference in Austin, Texas. The conference, now in its 11th year, brings together nearly 1,400 leaders from all facets of the student housing industry for two and a half days of panel sessions and networking.
In addition to Bradley, this year’s Power Panel included Wes Rogers, CEO of Landmark Properties; Marc Lifshin, managing partner of Core Campus; Bill Bayless, CEO of American Campus Communities; Rob Bronstein, president of The Scion Group; Cliff Chandler, senior managing director of Greystar; and moderator Peter Katz, executive director of Marcus & Millichap’s Institutional Property Advisors.
The panel discussed the growing concept of living-learning communities, wherein students take advantage of a property’s location and amenities to share academic and personal experiences, as well as how they see the industry developing. The group agreed that over the last five years the sector has experienced increased demand from investors and more capital flowing into the space, despite the presence of economic red flags like rising interest rates and potential overbuilding in select markets.
